New Book: “Political Ecologies of Futurity," co-edited by Dr. Alex A. Moulton

We’re thrilled to announce the publication of Political Ecologies of Futurity: Storytelling Plantation Afterlives, Climate Erasures, and Socioecological Justice, co‑edited by Assistant Professor Alex A. Moulton along with Dylan M. Harris. This compelling new volume explores the entangled relationships between memory, place, and nature in a world undergoing profound socioecological transformation. Drawing on diverse disciplinary perspectives and methodologies, the book examines how landscapes shaped by colonialism, racial capitalism, and environmental injustice influence both present conditions and future imaginaries — including how erasure of these histories can undermine equitable futures. Featuring ten original case studies from around the globe, creative elements like poetry and artwork, and an Afterword by Mimi Sheller, the collection highlights the power of storytelling to rethink climate change, justice, and the politics of the future. Political Ecologies of Futurity offers rich insights for scholars, students, and anyone interested in socioecological justice and the geographies of climate futures.
