The Hunter Geographic Information Scientists Society is a graduate student-led organization in the Hunter College Department of Geography. Its mission is to encourage student engagement with other students, academics, and professionals in the public and private sectors doing Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-related work within the New York City region and beyond. Membership is open to all Hunter College students interested in GIS.

Currently the Hunter GIS Society is inactive, however students interested in local GIS activities should consider joining GISMO (NYC GeoSpatial Information Systems and Mapping Organization), the New York Metropolitan Area's largest GIS user group with over hundreds of members from city, state and federal agencies, educational institutions, non-profit organizations and private section.
