Climate and climate change are concerns for scientists across multiple disciplines. As one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time, the transformations of the earth's climate system accompanied by more extreme weather and climate, increased unpredictability of weather and climate, and expanding scale of climate disaster events affect society in profound ways. However, the outcomes of climate change and its effects are not evenly distributed. In this guest lecture, Dr. Moulton will examine the questions of social and racial inequality that his research suggests are crucial for addressing climate change to bring about a more just and sustainable futures. Moulton draws on his research across the Caribbean. As a region facing intense storms, salt water intrusions from sea level rise, increased drought, and other effects of climate change, Moulton will show how the Caribbean might offer pathways for surviving the climate crisis.
