Announcing competition: New departmental sign and logo design
Deadline April 25th!

Dear students, alumni, and friends of the department:

As many of you may already know, effective February 4, 2019, the Department of Geography is now the Department of Geography and Environmental Science. To this end, we would like to invite you to participate in creating:

1. A new departmental sign. It should read “Department of Geography and Environmental Science.” It will be located where the current sign is posted, at the entrance to the department (see the photo below). The dimensions of the new sign will be 120” by 16”.
2. A new department logo. We currently do not have a logo. The winning logo will be of high quality and scalable for use in both print and digital media.

Please use your creative energies to help communicate the exciting and highly relevant content of the disciplines of geography and environmental science. We teach courses in subject areas of human and physical geography, earth and environmental science, GIS, GeoInformatics, and remote sensing. Elements from these areas can be incorporated in the design of the new sign and the logo to reflect the integrative nature of our department.

Your designs will be used to create the final versions of the new sign and the logo.

The winners of the competition will be widely celebrated. They will be announced at the Annual Awards event on May 10th and receive $500 gift certificates.

The deadline for submitting the designs is April 25th!

Submit your entries via our website. File format should be no less than 300 or 600 dpi in SVG format.

When submitting your entries you will be asked to provide the following information: Name, CUNY ID (for current students), CUNY email, secondary email, contact phone number, type of entry, file attachment for artwork files.
