                  Lab Schedule

You are required to have your lab manual for the first day of lab.

Last updated: June 17, 2009

Lab exercises are designed to go into more detail about subjects that are particularly important in the course. There will be questions on the exams that are based on lab exercise subjects.

Pre-Lab Quizzes
You are expected to prepare for your lab class by reading the lab exercise and reviewing your lecture notes and textbook chapter relating to the lab exercise before you arrive in lab. There will be a 10 minute quiz at the beginning of lab to test your general knowledge of the lab subject you will be working on that lab session. If you read the lab exercise before lab and review your notes and textbook chapter you will be able to answer the questions.

It is very important you arrive on time to lab. Pre-Lab quizzes will be given during the first 10 minutes of lab. If you arrive after the quiz has begun you'll have less time to complete the quiz. If you arrive after the quiz is over, no makeup quizzes will be given.

Lab exercises are designed to go into more detail the most important subjects covered in lecture.

Teaching Assistants are not going to lead you step by step through the lab exercises. We want students to read and understand the lab exercise before attending lab. Refer to lecture notes and your textbook to answer any questions you may have. Lab instructors will give a brief overview of the lab exercise at the beginning of the lab period and will answer specific questions you may have.

Students will work on lab exercises during the 2-hour lab period where they can collaborate with other students and ask the lab instructor for assistance. Labs are to be completed at home and turned in to the lab instructor at the next meeting. See Rules & Policies regarding labs.

Some lab exercises require supplies other than your lab manual, a pencil and your head. Items needed may include a ruler and/or colored pencils. It's your responsibility to bring necessary items to lab. Labs MUST be completed in pencil.
