Modeling a
line of sight
You can use
3D Analyst to see whether one point location (called the target) can be seen
from another point location (called the observer). The software will also show
you which portions along the line of sight between the target and observer are
and are not visible.
When creating a line of
sight, you can add heights to the observer or target positions. For example, if
you are planning to look from an observation tower that is fifty feet tall, you
would add a height offset of fifty feet to the observer position.
This line of sight shows that the target is visible from
the observer location. Green portions of the line of sight are visible from the
observer's location; red portions are not.
