Modeling a line of sight

You can use 3D Analyst to see whether one point location (called the target) can be seen from another point location (called the observer). The software will also show you which portions along the line of sight between the target and observer are and are not visible.

When creating a line of sight, you can add heights to the observer or target positions. For example, if you are planning to look from an observation tower that is fifty feet tall, you would add a height offset of fifty feet to the observer position.

This line of sight shows that the target is visible from the observer location. Green portions of the line of sight are visible from the observer's location; red portions are not.
