Review
Before you
create a geodatabase, you should carefully consider
its design. You need to review the data you plan to add to it and be aware of
how the spatial and attribute data will be mapped to feature classes and
tables. Listed below are key points you should remember about creating a geodatabase:
· Data from different sources,
including coverages and shapefiles,
can be added to a geodatabase.
· In the geodatabase,
vector data can be represented in four dimensions: x, y, z, and m.
· When you create a geodatabase feature class or feature dataset, you need to
set up the spatial reference. The spatial reference can be imported by itself
or with data.
· When importing data into a geodatabase, the default spatial domain values will often
meet the needs of your data. If they do not, you can modify them by changing
the minimum x and y coordinate values or the precision.
