Modifying
the spatial domain
For many
of your data projects, you won't need to modify the default spatial domain
values provided by ArcCatalog. There are times,
however, when you'll need to modify the spatial extent, the precision, or both.
For example, when working with an enterprise geodatabase,
you may want to modify the spatial domain to fine-tune database performance.
You will
also need to modify the spatial domain values when they are merely placeholder
values. As you've learned, ArcCatalog provides
placeholder values when you create a new feature class or feature dataset without
importing the spatial reference from another dataset.
You can
only modify the values for the spatial domain when you create a standalone
feature class or feature dataset, not after.
