How do I change my password?

A proper password is the primary and most important way to keep others from accessing your account and files. A proper password is between 7 and 8 characters long and must contain at least one uppercase character and one number. Do not use your first name, last name, userid, or dictionary words as your password. You may choose to use the same password for your PC and UNIX accounts. The Department of Geography periodically runs password cracking programs and if your password is cracked, your account will be turned off; this will make completing your lab assignments very difficult.

• Log into your account.
• Press <Ctrl> + <Alt> + <Delete>.
• Windows Security window appears. Click on Change Password…
• Change Password window appears with the following fields:
• Username: your userid
• Log on to: HUNTERGEO
• Old Password: type hunter1
• New Password: type your new password
• Confirm New Password: retype your new password
• Click OK button.
