EAST VIEW
EMPIRE STATE BUILDING
NEW YORK, NEW YORK

The view east from the Empire State Building provides a
spectacular view of Midtown Manhattan with such buildings as the
Chrysler Building, the United Nations and the bridges across the
East River (estuary): Queensboro, Triborough, Whitestone,
Throgsneck bridges (with increasing distance). Newtown Creek
divides Queens County (Queens, to the east) from Kings County
(Brooklyn, to the west). The urban sprall of those boroughs cover
low hills in the distance. The hills are relicts of the Harbor
Hill and Ronconcoma glacial moraines deposited on top of older
coastal plain sediments and bedrock.
